GASCON IN GENERAL
It's a hardy and vigorous pig, with an Olympian calm , good feet, and strong, straight pasterns. It's an excellent walker and... runner !
It has a distinctive feature on its back: a tuft of longer, stronger bristles arranged in opposite directions, forming rosettes and spikes. Its snout and hooves are also black, without any spots.
It is also a late-maturing breed (minimum 12 months of rearing compared to 6 months for the pink pig in intensive farming) because of its frugality and the result of the living conditions it has been given.
Accustomed to living within the confines of farms, he is also very sociable and curious .
